I am sitting here in the hotel in Quito and feeling a little sad that my visit here is almost at an end. I have had an incredible time. Juan has been the best guide I have ever had. He knows all about the history and seems to know everybody in Ecuador. Every time we went somewhere, he met people he knew. Eddie in Cuenca was also interesting and I enjoyed the time with him, but I enjoyed the most my time with Juan. Yesterday we stopped and had guinea pig or lunch on the way back to Quito. Today we went to Mindo and it was wonderful. We even dropped my laundry off to have it done while we were gone for the day. Now I can pack and try to find room for all he things I bought here. Thank you for all your work in arranging my tours and making my visit here unforgettable.

Our guide was a guy named Andre Degel and he was really great. We learned so much. We snorkeled twice a day, hiked twice a day. We saw every kind of animal and bird and fish you can imagine. The next week we spent traveling around Ecuador and had so much fun. We went from Quayaquil to Salinas, Manta, Quevedo, Latacunga, Banos, and Quenca. What a diverse and beautiful country you have. From the jungle to the high mountains to the ocean it was all varied and so pretty. All the people we encountered were to friendly and helpful. We just got home yesterday. I would recomend the Manatee to any one. Good food , accomadation and a mild jungle experience. The Bataburro lodge was much more wild and less amenities but a far more memorable trip to the bush. The jungle treks and lore, and animals and birds and the guide Livio Tanguilla was fantastic. This one I will always remember. Of course the Galapagos was also great, touristry but great and the Athalla or Anahi was a great boat and crew and guide. The Hotel Fuente de Piedro was adequate and what we wanted.

Everything worked according to plan. All airline and pick ups etc. were perfect. We loved the Galapagos and the Monserrat II is an excellent ship. The crew was helpful, nice and competent. The food was outstanding. Much better than we had expected. We had only 8 guests for the first 4 days, then 16 for the last. Everything worked out well. They did more than the minimum on tours, an extra few minutes to look along a shoreline for turtles for example. Not just to the site and return. We would all highly recommend the ship and its naturalist to anyone looking for a wonderful experience. The extra day in Guayaquil was worthwhile. We walked the Malecon and enjoyed their excellent gardens and museum.
