The Hacienda is found 16 kilometers outside of Riobamba in the Indian area known as Chuquipoggio, meaning watershed, from the Indian words chuqui (water) and poggio (shed), signifying that water flows there.

This 300 year old Hacienda was a meeting spot of patrioctic Ecuadorians in 1830 planning the freedom of Ecuador, including Simon Bolivar.
