City Tour, Lunch in Colonial Quito & Middle of the World (Mitad del Mundo)
Join us in discovering one of the most beautiful cities in Latin America. With its charming colonial architecture and welcoming people, prepare to be captivated by Quito's history and culture. In fact, it was declared one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1978.
On our tour, you will take in some of the most impressive places the city has to offer. Plaza de la Independencia, or Independence Square, is bordered by some of the most historically powerful sanctuaries in the country, such as the Presidential Palace, Archbishop's Palace, and the Cathedral. Here, you will stand in the very heart of Ecuador while your guide tells the tales of the history and culture of the city of Quito.
Next, we will visit the church of La Compañía de Jesus, perhaps one of the most impressive holy places in Latin America. Built by the Jesuits, it is one of the finest examples of baroque architecture on the whole South American continent. Every visible surface has been intricately worked or decorated, and the entire church is adorned in gold leaf. It is undoubtedly an exquisite work of art.E-mail usUSA: 1 877 4367512Contact us
Continuing on our journey through the colonial district, we will reach San Francisco square. This was once a bustling hub of activity during the colonial period, but is now a quiet place for reflection where one can cast their gaze over the beautiful city and the neighboring volcanoes. The square is bordered by the church and monastery of San Francisco, on which work commenced in the early days of Spanish rule. Here we will learn about the history and traditions of this wonderful city, as well as its myths and legends, such as Cantuña's pact with the devil himself.
Before continuing to our next destination, the Middle of the World, we will have lunch in one of Quito's traditional restaurants. Here you will be delighted by the delicious cuisine and local flavors.
Continuing your tour, we will visit the Middle of the World, the place where the equatorial line divides the globe in two hemispheres. Take part in entertaining experiments that you can only do at Latitude 0°, and learn more about the local indigenous culture. Take a unique photo as you stand in the southern and northern hemisphere at the same time.E-mail usUSA: 1 877 4367512Contact us
